Breaking Ground

By turning the first sod on 18th June 2008 in preparation for a new three-storey building at Heidelberg-Wieblingen ProMinent underscores Heidelberg's importance as an extremely attractive production location. The company intends to invest the sum of about 30 million Euros in this site by 2012.

New ProMinent Process Metering Pump Production Facility The three-storey building is planned for the production of process pumps for applications involving the highest pressures and metering quantities. In this way, Prominent is creating the ideal prerequisites for ensuring efficient series production of high-performance motor metering pumps and process pumps, guaranteeing short delivery times and securing jobs for qualified staff. For more than a year now, ProMinent, the international market leader in low pressure diaphragm metering pumps, has been focussing on strengthening its position also as a provider of process metering pumps. With the complete integration of high-performance pump series for maximum pressures and metered quantities in its product portfolio, the Heidelberg-based company with worldwide presence presents itself as a complete supplier of metering pumps of all performance classes. The aim is to achieve an above-average annual growth rate clearly in the 2-digit percentage range in the process metering pump sector. To realise these aims it is essential to process the production of individual customised devices just as fast and effectively as large-scale projects involving large quantities.

With the new production facility, ProMinent will create the ideal environment for the series production of process metering pumps. A new three-storey building with a floor space of approx. 5.500 square metres will be built directly adjacent to the main plant in Heidelberg-Wieblingen. The new building is expected to be finished by the 1st quarter of 2009. A total of four production zones are planned on the ground floor with metal cutting and machining processes taking place in three of the zones. The process pumps will be assembled in the fourth zone and subsequently undergo endurance testing on the adjacent test rig.
Supply and disposal areas, a precision measuring and inspection room as well as the necessary toolshop will be located about the periphery of the production zones on the ground floor. The first floor is planned for foreman, project planning, CAD offices and recreation rooms.
The second floor will be divided into two areas: Office and server rooms as well as pump assembly. This will be the area for precision-machining and preassembling the process pumps as well as assembling and testing motor pumps.
Breaking GroundCompletion of the new building and the new production bay will enable optimised production processes and short delivery times through largely standardised manufacturing processes and the efficient configuration of individual assemblies for process pumps. Certified in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2000, consistently high quality of all products will be ensured at a production depth of over 70 %. It will then be possible to process individual customised devices just as quickly and effectively as large projects with large quantities.
